OpenWalnut and MeVisLab both implement a network-based data flow approach and focus on interactivity. While MeVisLab exposes the network to the users to allow them visual programming, OpenWalnut intentionally hides these details from the users. OpenWalnut presents all available functionality in a ready-to-use GUI. MeVisLab also provides the possibility to combine certain modules an GUI elements, but this allows more for very specialized interfaces for certain work-flows than for a complete software. OpenWalnut is already a complete tool for analyzing neuroscience data instead of only a framework that can building such an application.
